The Big Guide to a Very Small Business

Friends and readers, my guide on Creating Personal Freedom through a Very Small Business is now available for your consideration. The link is above for those who are ready to pick it up, and for those who want more information, just keep reading.

What It's About: Creating freedom through a very small business.

Who Should Buy This: Anyone hoping to escape the tyranny of a conventional working life, anyone interested in setting up a microbusiness to earn additional income, and anyone who believes in hard work.

Who Should Not Buy This: Expert Internet marketers who already know a lot about working online, anyone looking for a quick fix, anyone happy with their current working situation and income, and anyone not willing to work hard.

In Pursuit of Freedom

No one will do this for you. If you want freedom, you'll have to make it happen for yourself. This guide can help.

I left conventional employment at the age of 20 by walking out of a FedEx warehouse and never looking back. Over the next 10 years I spent a few hours each day on a very small business, and spent the rest of the time doing whatever I wanted.

The greatest benefit of self-employment, or even a side project that produces additional income, is personal freedom.

When you can take more control of your choices, you'll experience an independence that money can't buy. No one will do this for you. If you want freedom, you'll have to make it happen for yourself. This guide can help.

Introducing the Unconventional Guide to Working for Yourself

The Unconventional Guide to Working for Yourself offers a range of materials to help you create your own freedom through one or more small projects that can quickly produce income.

All materials are delivered immediately after purchase by electronic download (no shipping charges) and will work on both PC and Macs. The product includes:

More specifically, here’s how each of those things breaks down.

The 53-Page Manual

The report includes highlights of everything I’ve learned in ten years of working for myself by operating a series of very small, online businesses. It is roughly divided into 50% strategy and 50% tactics. The strategy section is designed to help you think outside the box and create a project that works for you regardless of the broader economy or your own circumstances. The tactical section will help with current opportunities you can use right now.

I started writing all of this down after receiving hundreds of emails with questions about self-employment. When I started, it was hard to stop - I kept going for weeks on end. I missed my initial production deadline because I felt that more information was needed, so as I traveled around the world, I made more and more notes. I finally ended up finishing it in an all-night writing session in Colombo, Sri Lanka, after I had slept through most of the day upon arrival in my 100th country.

I figured I had to stop at 53 pages or it would become a real book, and I can only write one of those at a time.

Here’s a few of the topics that are covered:

*Truth and Lies of Affiliate Marketing
*8 Ways to Earn (At Least) $200 a Month
*Strategic Microbusiness Building
*3 Separate Ways of Selling on eBay (including one that 98% of eBay sellers ignore)
*The Truth about Blogging for Dollars
*How to Get Paid for Things You Currently Do for Free
*Where to Start from the Beginning
*Scaling Up to a Business Empire
*Affiliate Income 2.0
*Logistics for Getting Paid
*6 Top Mistakes of Entrepreneurship
*4 Overrated Businesses You Should Avoid

About the Audio Sessions

You’ll also get 3 25-minute MP3 audio sessions I created to explain more about getting started, building traffic to your web site or offer (a very important part of any online business), and all the logistical details that come up along the way.

These are not super-polished, recording studio quality audiobooks. It’s just me talking in a conversational style about real issues. The idea is that these are the kinds of things we’d talk about during a couple of long phone conversations. I don't do much personal consulting, but I tried to condense what I know into these sessions.

Believe me, I learned the hard way about this stuff – health insurance, taxes, missed deposits, etc. It’s much easier to start off on the right foot with these kinds of things, so I used part of the audio sessions to talk about what not to do.

Here’s a quick rundown of the outline for the audio sessions:

#1: Questions & Answers on Very Small Businesses

In this session I answer questions submitted by readers in advance of creating this project. It covers getting started, risks, healthcare, taxes, and the critical relationship between cash flow and survival.

#2: 24 Actions You Can Take Today to Create Online Income

This session is all about immediate action. It covers domain registration, hosting, creating a mini-information product for eBay or elsewhere, and some notes on specific affiliate programs that may be a good match for you.

#3: 18 Tips to Get Traffic to Your Website or Offer

This session is all about getting traffic to your web site or offer. Without visitors, you can have the greatest site or greatest offer, but if no one sees it, you’ll never sell anything. That’s why building traffic is almost as important as creating a good product.

SEO Bonus and Free Updates

Naomi Dunford at ittybiz knows far more about Search Engine Optimization (SEO) than I do, and she recently wrote an ebook about it. The book sells for $39, but Naomi has agreed to let me share the first 26 pages with you. If you don’t know what SEO is, don’t worry – this bonus is very user-friendly. The first two sections, which you’ll get as a bonus, include more than enough info to get a good overview as well as a few specific ideas about optimizing your website for search engines.

Lastly, I will be providing free updates for six months. Each customer will be asked to fill out a short survey after about two weeks of owning the guide. Based on that feedback, I’ll revise or add more segments to the guide. These updates will be free for six months even if I raise the price of the guide for new buyers in the future.

Why Not to Give Me Your Money

Before I launched this product, I explained to my blog readers how I had a bit of anxiety over creating something that deals with building a business, even a very small one. To be honest, the self-employment market is one I've deliberately avoided for ten years and counting. It's crowded with hype and unfulfilled promises - at least two good reasons to stay away.

Please let me give it to you straight — this is not a quick-fix system. I know of no such thing. If you are looking for the easy road to riches, feel free to keep looking, but not here. Send me a postcard from Mykonos when you find it.

But over here, I'm working on something different. I do not provide a complete road map or a hand-holding guide. It’s a guide that will help you begin the process of creating freedom. I wouldn’t offer it if I didn’t believe in it, but there are no shortcuts to learning.

Also, I focus almost exclusively on online business, because that’s what I know how to do. Offline businesses are cool too, but you’ll need to go elsewhere to learn how to start a coffee shop. This guide is about working from the coffee shop - whether you're in Singapore, San Antonio, or Sweden.

Lastly, not everyone wants to work for themselves. Some people adapt to self-employment quickly, some come around to it after a while, and others are better off doing something else. This guide is for people in the first two groups.

If You Haven't Been Scared Off Yet

I believe passionately in creating personal freedom. I’ve done it for myself, and I’ll tell you how – including all my mistakes, so you don’t have to repeat them. Some of you are really excited about this or have already had some initial success that leaves you hungry for more. You are who I created this product for.

Therefore, with those earlier disclaimers out of the way, let me give you the strongest guarantee I could possibly think of.

The Incredibly Convincing Guarantee

“If you read the guide, listen to the audio sessions, and put in a good-faith effort, I am not allowed to keep your money if it doesn’t work for you. You have to let me know if this happens, and I have to refund your money promptly. You have 60 days to succeed before I return your money.”

Specifically, I want to ensure that you can earn at least $200 a month ($2,400 a year) in new income through what you learn. Obviously, I want you to do even better than that – but this is the bar of success for the guarantee.

I make this guarantee in part to reassure you, and in part so I can reassure me. I really don’t want anyone’s money who can not seriously benefit from this information for any reason.

In addition, there is the usual, 365-day guarantee – if it doesn’t rock your world anytime in the next year, just tell me and you get your money back. (If you do that, you have to agree to delete the files from your computer, and I’ll remove you from the update list just to be fair to the others.)

International Readers

This guide is fully relevant worldwide, although a few strategies and tactics may be exclusive to North America. For the most part, though, working online can be done from anywhere.

P.S. I like this quote from George Bernard Shaw: "The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and, if they can't find them, make them."

There are a lot of things you can do to make your own circumstances, and I'd be lying if I said that buying something was the only way. There are many ways to make circumstances. Regardless of which you choose, I wish you good luck in the journey.
